After two years' pause Il Corpo nel Suono has returned. Expanding its international reach we decided the VI Conference will be staged in Glasgow, Scotland on 7-9 April, 2023.
Il Corpo nel Suono is a project born in 2015 and developed within the Accademia Nazionale di Danza, Rome. It deals with deepening the themes of mutual interaction between music and dance in the different contexts where it occurs, such as the training, the choreographic or the performative context. Its vision is to explore reflections on music and movement notation, the choreomusicological. historical and anthropological perspectives of this relationship, and finally insight on the function and role of the dance musician as well as objectives and strategies of training.

Suzanne Knosp has been working as a musician in dance for over thirty years. She is Professor of Dance and Music Director for the School of Dance at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where she teaches music and dance and accompanies technical lessons. She has worked with such artists as Ben Stevenson, Ben Vereen, Edward Villella, Bill Evans, Basil Thompson, Ann Hutchinson-Guest, Francoise Martinet, Melissa Lowe, Amy Ernst and many others. In October 2015 for her contribution in the field of music and dance, she received the Louis Horst Award from the International Guild of Musicians in Dance of which she has been president for many years. As a pianist and composer she has made some DVDs in collaboration with the dancer Melissa Lowe and her compositions are distributed by the Princeton Book Company. For 10 years Ms. Knosp was part of Crossing Barriers, an experimental improvisation group directed by Patrick Neher. Suzanne Knosp deals with research and training of dance musicians. She has completed the program of studies for the Master of Music in Dance Accompaniment course, both for piano and percussion and has taught and played in numerous national and international festivals and conferences. She is a member of the NDEO (National Dance Education Organization) and the Music Teachers national Association.
